It is situated in Lot 6 of the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary in Sabah, Malaysia. Our research aims to help mitigate the loss of Asian biodiversity by understanding the effects of habitat fragmentation on the ecosystem, while encouraging in-situ conservation and engaging with NGOs, stakeholders and policy makers alike. We offer a variety of ways to study, welcoming PhD, MRes and MSc students from all over the world, provided that their research falls under our general theme. DGFC also offers facilities for field courses from overseas and within the Asia-Pacific region, including Malaysia. We are open to volunteers and to research collaborations with scientists worldwide.

All the activities are evenly distributed between the volunteers on a daily basis, and everyone is expected to collaborate in the different activities. Fashion Forward Future is a youth-led movement which aims to encourage sustainable fashion practices among young Malaysians and provide economic empowerment to women in the B40 community. The project aims to educate young people about the problems associated with fast fashion and how they can become more responsible consumers.
Due to the fact that teenagers and young adults are the primary consumers of fast fashion, it is important to educate them about sustainable fashion. The responsibility of promoting sustainability falls on both the fashion industry and consumers, but our primary objective is to inform young people about ways they can support sustainable fashion, such as by shopping at thrift stores, donating used clothing, purchasing from local sustainable brands, and repairing or repurposing damaged clothing.

Gibbon Conservation Society

Gibbon Conservation Society or GCS is a Malaysian NGO founded on 22nd February 2020. We were formerly known as the Gibbon Protection Society Malaysia (GPSM) and have been running since 2016.
Our main purpose is to support the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project or GReP. Through this project we rescue and rehabilitate gibbons who were victims of the illegal pet trade. Rehabilitation is not an easy process, most gibbons require at least 5-10 years of rehab, and depending on their age and history, each gibbon needs to learn and overcome different things, as many are left traumatised by their experiences as pets. We help each individual move forward, relearn their natural behaviours and prepare them for life in the wild. Our goal is to educate the public about the threats that gibbons face in Malaysia due to human activities, and the implications of gibbon extinction. We support vital conservation research on primates and their habitats, and promote environmental education and awareness about the importance of primates within the Malaysian ecosystem. Most importantly, we aim to combat the growing illegal wildlife trade by assisting the local law enforcement agencies.

The MareCet Research Organisation

MareCet is the first and only non-profit NGO in Malaysia that is dedicated to the research and conservation of marine mammals in Malaysia.
Established in 2012 and run by a small yet competent and passionate team of researcher-conservationists, MareCet's core focuses are increasing scientific knowledge through research, conservation-based outreach and education, strengthening policies, and developing capacity for this field of work. MareCet strives to work to protect marine mammals and their fragile habitats, provide a platform for building local conservation leadership talent, work with stakeholders to optimise conservation outcomes for all involved, and promote ocean stewardship within society at large in Malaysia. The name MareCet (pronounced ma-rei-set) is derived from the combination of the words Mare and Cetacean. The word 'Mare' in Latin means ocean, while 'Cetacean' is the scientific grouping of whales, dolphins and porpoises. By combining the two words into MareCet, the name signifies the two main focus of the organization: (1) The ocean, in general and (2) marine mammals, in particular.

As such, we have a responsibility to conserve and strengthen nature’s increasingly fragile resources and to reduce the negative impact of our footprint on the environment. This responsibility – which has evolved into The Datai Pledge – has culminated into a robust programme of initiatives with the single-minded objective of creating a sustainable environment for the future. The Datai Pledge programme not only benefits the living creatures who share this spectacular island with us but also enriches the lives of our guests, team members and the local community through meaningful participation.
The Datai Pledge programme comprises a series of initiatives relating to our business operations, the land, sea, and youth. These four elements correspond to the four pillars of our programme: Pure for the Future; Wildlife for the Future; Fish for the Future; and Youth for the Future, respectively.

Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre (TRCRC) was established in 2012 to restore tropical rainforests and address the critical rate of biodiversity loss in Malaysia. TRCRC’s Mission is two-fold: to conserve tropical rainforest plant species and lead landscape-wide protection and reforestation projects throughout the country.
TRCRC plans to reconnect forest fragments through the reforestation of degraded patches using native trees sourced from nurseries as well as seedlings from rescued threatened plants. It serves three important national conservation policies: ex-situ conservation for the preservation of plant species and genetic diversity under the National Policy on Biological Diversity 2016 - 2025, the Central Forest Spine, and the Heart of Borneo initiative, to support Malaysia’s commitments towards conservation.

Water Watch Penang (WWP) is a non-profit organisation founded in November 1997 as part of the Sustainable Penang Initiative under the auspices of the Socio-economic & Environmental Research Institute (SERI) of Penang. WWP aims to promote study, awareness, knowledge, conservation, protection and the practice of a water saving and climate resilient society towards the sustainable development of water resources in accordance with the aspirations of several Sustainable Development Goals.
WWP teaches parents who play a vital role as “water managers” at home and in the work place. Parents manage the family’s water budget and educate their children about water saving. WWP promotes water demand management (WDM) to ensure that water resources are not depleted but remain sustainable. Via WDM, the amount of water saved nationally is significant and WDM can lead to saving mega-water projects for future generations. Through domestic water audit (DWA), a form of WDM, water recycling and saving techniques become key strategies in addressing water scarcity and other water problems in Malaysia. WWP also work with government and water service providers in reducing high rates of non-revenue water, upgrading water treatment plants, increasing awareness, public education and other important water related issues. The ultimate objective of WWP is to create a ‘Water Saving Society’ in Malaysia.
